We're welcoming a new trustee

smartMonday has a new trustee, here’s everything you need to know.
November 1, 2026 by smartMonday

From 1 November 2026, Stewarda Pty Ltd (AFSL 236049 RSE Licence L0000185) (Stewarda) is the trustee responsible for the Smart Future Trust. smartMonday is a product within the Smart Future Trust. At smartMonday, we're committed to helping you make the most of your super and to making every member feel confident about their financial future.

As part of that commitment, we’re making an important change to how your super fund is governed. While the change is happening behind the scenes, we want to keep you informed about why it's happening and what it means for you.

First, what does a trustee do?

A super fund's trustee has an important responsibility: to oversee the fund and make decisions in members' best financial interests.

This includes overseeing how the fund operates, overseeing investment decisions, managing risks and ensuring the fund meets its legal and regulatory obligations.

Put simply, the trustee is responsible for making sure your super fund is properly managed, with members' best financial interests at the centre of its decisions.

Who is Stewarda?

Stewarda is a superannuation trustee company.

Here are all the details: Stewarda is part of the Future Group of Companies which comprises Future Group Australia Holdings Pty Ltd ABN 68 618 367 927, the parent entity of the group and its subsidiaries (Future Group). Smart Monday Solutions Pty Ltd, the sponsor of smartMonday is also part of Future Group.

Stewarda is guided by an experienced board chaired by Jeremy Cooper, a respected superannuation industry leader and former Deputy Chair of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). Jeremy also chaired the Australian Government's Super System Review.

Stewarda will also have a majority-independent board - including Keri Pratt, Shailendra Singh, Virginia Malley, Lee Brennan and Sharon Davis (non-independent) - bringing experience and independent oversight to the decisions that affect members.

Why is the trustee changing?

Bringing trustee responsibilities in-house allows for a closer connection between fund governance, operations and long-term planning.

The aim is simple: to support strong oversight, clear accountability and long-term outcomes for members.

What does this mean for your super?

Your super is still invested with smartMonday. The change in trustee doesn't change your membership. Your interests remain the priority. Stewarda has a legal responsibility to act in members' best financial interests.

You'll continue to receive support from smartMonday. We're still here to help you understand your super and make informed decisions about your financial future.

The change is behind the scenes and is about who oversees the fund, rather than a decision you need to make about your super.

Do you need to do anything?

You don't need to take any action specifically because of the trustee change.

We'll continue to keep you informed about any important updates affecting your super.
